The video was posted to TikTok on Wednesday by Wrinkle the Duck (@seducktiv), who wrote: “Is anyone still having trouble?” Already, the video has amassed more than 23 million views and over 5 million likes.

And though one commenter deemed the video “very educational,” viewers should remember to consult an expert before handling a duck, as doing so incorrectly could injure the duck.

“How to pick up a duck,” said Justin Wood, Wrinkle’s owner, at the beginning of the clip.

In the video, Wrinkle and Wood are standing in a parking lot.

“So, you’ve found yourself a duck, but you find yourself chasing the duck,” Wood continued.

Wood stretches his arms out toward Wrinkle and begins chasing the poor duck through the parking lot.

“Don’t do this,” he said. “If you’re behind, that should remind you that that’s wrong.”

According to Wood, those wanting to handle a duck should “get in front of it,” introduce themselves, and “state [their] intentions.”

“Hello Duck, my name is Human Name, and I am going to pick you up now,” Wood said before placing his hand “firmly underneath the duck.”

The video ends with an image of Wrinkle sitting happily in Wood’s palm.

As previously stated, handling a duck incorrectly could lead to injuries, according to The Open Sanctuary Project.

“Some ducks are more receptive to being held than others, but many ducks aren’t very fond of the experience,” said the website. “If at all possible, have a veterinarian or care expert give you hands-on training for safe duck handling. Failing to use appropriate technique can gravely injure ducks.”

When attempting to hold a duck, the website, like Wood, said it’s best to stand in front of the duck; however, the project doesn’t encourage handlers to place their palms underneath the bird. Instead, they said it’s best to “place both hands securely over both wings and around their body.”

Additionally, they reminded handlers to “NEVER pick up a duck by their wings, feathers, feet or neck. This is an unacceptable practice that regularly harms ducks.”

Again, it’s encouraged to consult a vet before handling an unfamiliar animal.

Commenters thought Wood’s video was hilarious and jokingly asked for more tutorials.

“Tutorial on how to put it down please I’ve been holding a duck for four days straight,” wrote stephen.

“Can you give me [a] tutorial [on] how to find a duck?” asked Can’t Talk.

“Tutorial with how to pick a girl when?” joked Gino.

Meanwhile, ItsMeStaryGuy asked for a tutorial on how to pick up an alligator.

“Step 1: run,” replied aoaoo120.

Wrinkle isn’t the first duck to go viral online. In November, a video of a duckling tucked into bed received over 37,000 upvotes on Reddit. And in January, an adorable TikTok of a duck drinking iced water from Starbucks garnered more than 10 million views.
